Hot97: Biggie‘s Son CJ Wallace Will Honor His Dad W/’Ready To Dance’ Album
Christopher “CJ” Wallace is keeping his father’s legacy alive, but remixing it in his own way!
Reported on All Hip Hop, 23-year-old CJ, the son of the Notorious B.I.G and Faith Evans, is dropping an album in honor of his dad. CJ rephrased Biggie’s debut studio album, Ready To Die (1994), to Ready To Dance.
CJ’s album will be a combination of hip hop and house music. This gives people a chance to experience Biggie’s music again, but in a different way, CJ said. The “Big Poppa Mix,” which is already out, is the first single and gives fans a taste of what Ready To Dance will sound like. The record was co-produced by CJ Wallace, Jonathan Hay, Sarah Rush, and Willie Mack. CJ called this journey an “enlightening wake-up call and an adulting experience.”
“We always force ourselves to think bigger and more creatively about my Dad. When it came to his music, it was the same thing, not using vocals, but really thinking about his spirit and the emotional connection that his music gives to his fans.”
Last year, CJ paid homage to his pops when he announced his Frank White creative blend cannabis brand. Before Biggie’s tragic death on March 9, 1997, he referred to himself as Frank White, the character from the 1990 film King Of New York. Rolling Stone reports Ready to Dance will be released in tandem with a new lifestyle brand named Frank White.;
